Marvel Of The Superhero Genre - 1405 Words

Superheroes. To most people, superheroes are for a young boy’s first obsession or for an awkward teenager’s companion on lonely days. However, with the recent releases of blockbuster movies from both companies, the audience of the superhero genre is growing. (Complex) Both companies are now battling to be the best and the characters and story arcs these brands produce show their efforts. Some of the most prominent characters in Marvel, such as Captain America, Thor, Hulk, and Iron Man, feature in Marvel’s most prominent team: The Avengers. (Colon) Alternatively, DC Comic’s popular superheroes, Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman, are distinctively solitary heroes who only formed the Justice League of America in response to†¦show more content†¦(Participle) Superman, for instance, has super strength, super endurance, super speed, ice breath, laser vision, and flight. Marvel characters are human first, hero second. This means that Marvel creates simp le and ordinary characters, for the most part, who later gain their powers through a freak accident or, in the case of the X-Men, an inherited mutation on a cellular level. Spiderman is a simple high school science nerd before he is bitten by the genetically created spider. Almost every single student at Xavier’s School for the Gifted Youngster starts out as normal children before their mutations activate. This is not the case with DC Comics in that three of their most popular characters, Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman, are a billionaire acrobatic, an extraterrestrial, and an Amazon Princess, respectively. The way each company develops its characters also causes the superheroes to have distinct personalities. Marvel’s heroes are human and create human mistakes; in fact, Spiderman virtually creates almost all his major villains. (Semicolon) Many of Marvel’s supposed heroes have no qualms with killing when necessary; Deadpool, surprisingly considered a superhe ro, is a mercenary for higher who loves to kill. (Semicolon) With DC Comics, they create superheroes first, and only in later publication do the characters develop more human characteristics and tendencies. They also known as genetically modified organisms, or GMO. A method called recombinant DNA technology is used to transfer genetic information from one organism to another, producing plants, animals, or even vaccines. The organisms that are created from this process are referred to as genetically modified organisms. Scientists pose genetically modified foods as a solution for food issues around the world like feeding the growing global population. There is no doubt that GMO have the potential for providing solutions to many of the agricultural issues faced worldwide today like addressing famine and malnutrition in developing nations by producing higher yielding crops with extra nutritional value, or saving farmers money and time by creating pest-resistant, herbicide-tolerant, heartier plants. Answer: E-Portfolio of nursing professional is an online portfolio, which contains documents related to academics, certificates, skills, developed knowledge, career graph, and their competencies. The e - portfolio includes presentation, published articles and volunteer work related to the profession. Self-assessment is a self-directed program, which help students in learning. This helps nursing professionals in identifying their area of expertise, strength and learning needs. Self-assessment helps in developing learning goal, which you develop nursing practice standard. Once you decide and develop your skills, you can linked by e-portfolio to apply for jobs. Self-assessment is divided into two components, one is a reflection which helps in discovering the strength, skills and learning needs. This will help in building nursing competencies (EDCAN, 2008). When reflecting, consider how changes in elements have an impact in your nursing practice. The introduction of advanced technology or innovative technique, process or skill in nursing practice should be learned. Nurses should adapt, to learn changes occur in practice environment, which require additional knowledge and wisdom in delivering safe and ethical nursing care. The results from practice reflection should be utilized in developing goals and learning plan (Green, J., et al. 2013). The second component is developing and maintaining learning plan, to achieve success in a nursing career. Practice reflection forms the initial base of learning plans. Learning plan has recorded task which a nurse do to maintain his/her competencies (Green, J., et al. 2013). Competencies for nurses is defined as knowledge, skill, attitude, sound wisdom and judgement required for safe and ethical nursing practice. Registered nurse should have these core competencies like to describe the action and responsibility for own decision, fulfilling the role of the registered nurse as a member of nursing and health care team, professional accountability and responsibility to provide ethical practice of nursing and give standard and ethical services to public to gain their trust. These competencies must be mentioned in the linked e - portfolio, which work as a reflection of nurse in achieving goals (Competencies for entry-level Registered Nurse practice, 2014). Self-regulation finds individuals among nursing professional, who are capable of determining and standards of nursing education and practice. Self-regulation involves nursing regulatory body which maintains standard in nursing practices for the trust of the public. These nursing regulatory bodies provide best possible environment where nurses can meet their standards and ethical obligation. Nurses are abiding by standards of practice and ethical values of the nursing profession. When nurses stand upright and hold values for standards, then they gain public interest and respect (Nursing now, 2007). Self-regulation is a privilege granted by government and easily taken away by them. To maintain this privilege, a nursing profession is accountable and responsible for government and public. One way to maintain this privilege by nursing professionals is to involve the public in a discussion organized by the health care team and nursing regulatory body or to appoint public representative among nursing societies or health care society. Self-regulation, self-assessment and competency are linked to e- portfolio in improving nurses' skills. As portfolio consists of document related to these three concepts, which help in building a professional image among hiring committees, nursing regulatory body and public because this portfolio is visible online.
